The Quality of Persistence

Persistence: “The quality of continuing steadily despite problems or difficulties”.

EVITE

It is the fuel that lights the fire when all other sources seem lost to us. It is the spark in the soul where darkness may have threatened to descend. It is the part of our heads that keeps us wanting and desiring despite obstacles that stand in our way. It is the road before us that is always there and ready to accommodate our brave feet if only we would continue to walk. It is the stuff of miracles, legends, and stories throughout the ages across which our fingers pass, urging us to learn from them. It is the word that flies in the face of giving up, letting go, taking the easy road instead of the road that is right for us and is in line with the dreams we hold close to our hearts. Persistence really is the soul of action. It is the fuel before the fire, the oxygen that sets the match ablaze. If it is lost, the throttle of life and our dreams, are lost with it.  It keeps the shadows of regret from ever entering the heart and delivers us to our bliss.

As part of a blog post series I’m launching, I’ve asked people in the industry to share their thoughts on persistence and what it means to them in their own pursuits and will be posting their responses here. In the meantime, go check out the post here, which was one of the sources of my inspiration.

  4. Hey girl- This is crazy. I’m getting ready to launch a project I’m calling The Peace of Persistence, where I’m going to interview successful, high-functioning, happy people over the next year to find out what makes them tick… and I’m planning to write a one-woman show about it next year. How did we hit on the same thing?

    love you, Abby
